Coping with Current Events

I, like many people remain disgusted, angry, and saddened in the aftermath of events that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia this past Saturday that resulted in the death of 32yr old Heather Heyer who stood up for what she believed in and joined in to protest the Nazi party who decided to have themselves a rally and a march the night prior. I’ve tried to avoid listening to the news and going on social media as much as I could because every time I saw an article or status update I couldn’t resist being overwhelmed with an array of emotions, usually thinking something along the lines of  “What in the seven layers of hell is going on in this crazy thing we call life?”. Scary thing is it’s happening more and more with each passing day.

Through the combination of the gym, music, and a few kinds of pre-workout I’ve been able to find some solace during these troubling times in our world, even if it’s only for a couple of hours a day. At least when I’m at the gym nothing else matters except killing my workout and listening to some good tunes! So I’d like to share some of the songs I’ve been listening to lately that deal with some of the current social issues.

Architect – “Traitor”

Burnt by The Sun – “Boston Tea-Bag Party”

Dalek – “Masked Laughter (Nothing’s Left)

Dead Kennedy’s – “Nazi Punks Fuck Off!”

Disfear – “An Arrogant Breed”

Napalm Death – “Continuing War on Stupidity”

Nasum – “Living Next Door to Malice”

A Perfect Circle – “What’s Going On”

Rotten Sound – “Nation”
